The Speedgoat 6 and 7 for races and long technical trails. Challenger 8 for mixed terrain. I have been running in Hoka for years and I still do not understand why anyone would pay more for any other shoe.
I was doing elevation workouts on a ski slope in Austria — running the slope up and down without anything attached. Perfect grip. Not a single slip. I was surprised this was possible.
Then I did the Circuito Huemul in Patagonia — four days alongside the Southern Patagonian ice field, extreme conditions. Everyone else had heavy mountaineering boots. I went with my Speedgoat. I had more grip. I was faster. The shoes are lighter.
"I honestly still do not know how it is possible that anyone pays more than for Hoka shoes. For straight ultra endurance running with perfect grip — it is so good I cannot imagine why you should pay more."
