The story

20 kg. 4 days. Patagonian ice field. Tent strapped on top.

The Circuito Huemul. Four days alongside the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Extreme conditions. Everyone around me had super-functional, professional mountaineering packs. I had the Cotopaxi Allpa 42 — a clamshell travel backpack — with a tent tied to the top and a sleeping mat on the straps.

Twenty kilograms. All day. Four days. More comfortable than what my friends were carrying.

I am still surprised this is possible.

"It felt more practical than the super functional, professional pack that my friend had. I really, really recommend it — it is a one for all."

The design

Clamshell opening — like a suitcase. One big main area. A smaller area for shoes and dirty things. An inside pocket for easy-access items. An external pocket for travel things — power bank, food — accessible without opening the main pack. A laptop area that is thief-proof.

Everything about this thing is smart.

I travel with it as carry-on hand luggage. And I ran 26 km back from a business meeting in Zurich with it on my back — because I always have it with me, and it is never too much.
